Christian Houck
Public Service · Constituent Advocacy
Christian Houck is a Goucher College graduate and public-service professional, serving on district staff for Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District. A former Student Government Association President and Arsht Presidential Diplomat, he focuses on constituent service and the everyday work of connecting residents with the government that serves them.
Meet Christian
Local work. Direct impact. Public service that reaches people.
Christian serves on the district staff of Congressman Johnny Olszewski, based in the Towson office. He is part of the team working on behalf of residents across Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District, from Baltimore County and Carroll County to communities throughout Baltimore City.
The work is local and direct: helping constituents cut through federal red tape, connecting residents with the resources they need, and making sure the concerns of the district are heard. It is the kind of public service that rarely makes headlines and matters enormously to the people it reaches.
District Staff · 2026 – Currently Serving
Office of Congressman Johnny Olszewski
Serving constituents of Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District as the Staff Assistant from the district office in Towson, Maryland.
Understanding people – what moves them, what divides them, and more importantly, what brings them together.
That’s the thread connecting Christian’s double major in psychology and political science, his minor in sociology, and the work he was drawn to outside the classroom. He earned Dean’s List honors six semesters of his college career.
As President of the Goucher College Student Government Association, Christian led an organization of 45 staff and oversaw an annual operating budget of more than $100,000. It was the fourth role he held in SGA: he started as Director of Procurement in 2023, became Chief of Staff later that year, served as Vice President and President of the Senate in 2024-25 – drafting legislation and directing 33 senators – and was elected President in fall 2025.
In the summer of 2025, Christian served as a congressional intern in the Washington office of Rep. Johnny Olszewski, a fellow Goucher alum, where he corresponded with constituents, composed legislative memos, and attended committee hearings and briefings. He was also a 2025-26 Arsht Presidential Diplomat, hand-selected to represent Goucher alongside President Kent Devereaux in meetings with state and county officials, business partners, and members of the Board of Trustees.
Outside of academics and government, Christian has been a competitive swimmer since age eight – at Bel Air Athletic Club, Harford Technical High School, and as captain of the Goucher men’s swim team, where he sprinted at the NCAA Division III level.
That commitment is what carried him from campus government to Capitol Hill, and now to Congressman Olszewski’s district staff, where he works for the constituents of the community he calls home.
Leadership
Four years. Established Leadership.
One clear trajectory.
Additional Campus Leadership · 2024 – 2026
Arsht Presidential Diplomat
Selected to represent Goucher College alongside President Kent Devereaux in meetings with state and county officials, business partners, and members of the Board of Trustees.
SGA Initiative · 2025
Reopening the Gopher Hole
Spearheaded the reopening of Goucher’s The Gopher Hole – the long-shuttered student-run gathering space, closed for nearly a decade, as a campus third place for clubs, music, and student events.
Student Advocacy
24/7 Athenaeum Access
Helped lead the proposal to keep Goucher’s Athenaeum open around the clock for students balancing late study hours, athletic schedules, and demanding course loads.
Public-service Experience
A Capitol Hill summer that became a career foundation.

Christian’s summer internship became a bridge from campus leadership to constituent service. He now carries that work back home to the 2nd District on Congressman Olszewski’s district team as the Staff Assistant in Towson, Maryland.

Christian’s Story Wrote Itself
Some things never change.
In 2013, Christian put up flyers around his elementary school: Caring. Helpful. Responsible. Intelligent. Successful. Trustworthy. Involved. Awesome. Necessary.
Some things show up early. As a kid, Christian was the one organizing people, volunteering first, and taking responsibility without being asked. The same year he earned his 1st degree black belt and stepped onto the deck for his first competitive swim season, at age eight, he was already the classmate others turned to. The instinct to help, and to do the unglamorous work, never left.
Thirteen years later, he served as the President of his college’s Student Government Association – leading an organization of 45 staff with a six-figure budget – while serving as Captain of the Goucher men’s swim team and representing Goucher College as an Arsht Presidential Diplomat.
Some things, you can tell early.
